Frequently Asked Questions
What should I wear to a yoga class?
Fitted, stretchable clothing is best. You want something that you can move in comfortably. Clothing that is too loose tends to get in the way of movement. Women generally wear fitted stretch pants with a t-shirt or tank top, men usually wear shorts or athletic pants and a t-shirt that is not too baggy.
Can I be out of shape or overweight and still do yoga?
Yes! Yoga is a low impact form of exercise that is practiced at each individual’s fitness level. Students are encouraged to rest when they need and teachers offer many modifications and variations. If you are out of shape a Kripalu class is a great place to start.
What should I bring to a yoga class?
We have all the supplies you will need at the studio, mats, sitting cushions, blocks, straps and water.
Can I eat before a yoga class?
Generally don’t want to eat for at least 1 hour before class. Yoga stimulates the digestive process and can interfere with digestion if you have recently eaten.
What makes yoga different from other forms of exercise?
Like many forms of exercise, yoga strengthens and tones the body. At the same time, yoga enables greater flexibility, balance, and circulation while also aiding in relaxation, mental focus, and greater mind/body connection.
